Has anyone heard about Lowrance coming out with a newer model of the Ghost trolling motor? I have heard through the grapevine that they are coming out with a newer version. I am finally ready to pull the plug and buy one. I just wanna make sure that I don't pay full price now and have them come out with a newer model and drop the price on the original.

I'd buy the quest ultrex. I absolutely can't stand my ghost. Or should i say my 3rd ghost. Other 2 have been replaced under warranty since lowrance said it would cost more to fix than just replace it out right for me. This one is still doing same [censored] the other 2 were.

Chance I work with lot of electronic equipment and what you have happening sounds very familiar. If you don't have one, get a cheap voltmeter at Walmart or Harbor Freight and take the plug plate loose and connect it to the terminals on the back of the plug so it reads voltage. It would probably be better to do this in the water so it is under load. Watch the voltage when you run it and see if it is fluctuating. Probably do this under multiple speed settings as well. The problem might be your boat wiring somewhere. When we have this situation at work and have changed out more than one part and still get the same results it's usually something to do with the voltage. Also, when you pull the plug plate make sure all of the terminals are tight.

Not seeing anything on the inner-web about a new Ghost model. Love my Ghost.

They will likely add a blue button to it….change its name to GhostPro.
Haha. They have a good unit, no need to update the thing yet.

Thanks for the responses! My boat has all lowrance electronics so I figure I'd keep it all in the same family.

I’ve got a great buddy with a Ghost that fishes a ton. I’ve fished with him several times and he loves it and the unit is awesome. I considered getting one for my boat but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Had a Ghost on my last boat and just ordered my Phoenix with another one. I personally had no issues with mine at all. And seeing that I use Lowrance electronics, it’s a no brainer for me.
