I buy a 1/2 gal. at a time, go thru it in less than a week. all mine comes from wally world and I can't remember the last time any went bad. It is OK if consumed the week you buy it. Best within 5 days.

We had this issue when we first moved here and experienced our first TX summer. We were going through bread / milk fast due to it going bad before using it all. One day, I decided to buy several of those larger insulated food bags. This helped save our groceries significantly. It allowed us to pack them into these bags while in the store to reduce the "shock" of leaving a controlled environment then being placed into a hot trunk, car seat, or back of a truck. We will generally shop 45 miles away (nearest HEB Plus). RTIC coolers for the win with frozen bottles of water put in before we leave the house. Bread still is at risk sitting on the counter. I am 35 mi. from wally world and use a 30 qt. igloo and the n'ice we all bought. made a quick stop in aug. that ended up with 3 frozen pizzas, 5 pot pies and some frozen lasagna. no coolers, pizza all thawed (didn't kill me when I ate them), pot pies were getting thawed and the lasagna was pretty much fine under the pot pies. learned my lesson. not unusual to take 45 mins. to get back to the fridge. Was that you that dropped and whole pizza in the WalMart parking lot last week and left it for the grackles? The grackles were really liking that pizza. They did not even fly or walk off when I pushed my cart past them. I am the only one drinking milk in my house so unless it is going in coffee I drink straight from the bottle. No issues with Kroger milk so bacteria not the problem.

Been using Walmart milk for about 20 years; never any issues. The bride preferred it because it would always outlast the expiration date. Since I relocated 14 months ago HEB is much closer. Their milk has also stayed good well past the expiration date.

I won't touch milk if it hits the exp date. When I was about 9 I was at my grandparents and poured a glass of milk that was on the exp date and it had curdled and I didn't know till I took a drink. I threw up everywhere.

For you coffee/milk drinkers, check out the dates and also the taste of heavy whipping cream vs the dates on milk cartons. If it is fresh in the store cooler, heavy whipping cream may have a due date a month of a month and a half. And, I have used it for a couple weeks past that, never had a problem. The store or brand does not seem the matter, just pick the longest date.

The first person who tried milk from an animal was probably doing something perverted. Just saying Scientific fact: Humans are the only species that suckles off of another animal. Milk only goes in our refrigerator .... to go bad.
I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us. Hopper

I drink a gallon a week. Love it more than alcohol. How do you milk an almond?
