Very sorry to just hear of this. Does anyone know how to contact the family? I am an estates attorney and would be willing to donate my services, if needed. Feel free to send me a PM.

hopefully someone will be able to take up the torch and keep his tackle business going.. I recall when Lane first got started, he was working out of a broom closet at another establishment, pouring out of a hand mold. the plastics are some of the best made, and it was like burger king, have it your way. I got several custom colors made and they were exactly like I communicated I wanted.. with so many small companies making plastics nowdays, its hard to stand out amongst the crowd, but Lanes baits did that. I recall when the little stump jumper frogs came out, I was kind of on the fence abt it, thinking where does it end, whats next, beetles, crayfish, and on and on but he had sent me a few samples in an order to try. one day during spawn, my son and I were fishing at a lake in a cove, and noticed the crappie boiling the water in the cove.. we noticed there were a lot of little frogs hopping around on the bank and in the water.. we caught a little frog off the bank and put it on the hook,. the cork went down almost as soon as it hit the water, yielding a very nice crappie.. so I recalled the little plastic frogs I had got from Lane and put them to use.. we had a very good day using them, and they are now our go to bait during spawn and and early post spawn.. I use them on a neoprene style fly float, using a 1/64th short shanked hook. . when the presentation hits the water, there is very little splash, and the frog goes slowly fluttering down. crappie just cant resist it.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Haven’t been on the crappie forum in a long time and just came across this; couldn’t believe what I was reading, and still can’t. Gosh what a great man Lane was. Will never forget the crappie trip on CC with Laner. I was lucky enough to be part of a 5 man limit that Laner masterfully put together for us. He did a write up of the trip here on the forum - how special I felt to be part of a Lane Palmer story, as we all know how good of a writer he was. I have one of his sassy shads hanging from a pole right this second that caught many Texoma stripers just a couple days ago, and of course a bag full of thump buddies and chubbies. You will not be forgotten Lane Palmer, rest easy man.

Just saw this and it breaks my heart. What a loss to the fishing community and the world. Always loved his posts and stories. Hope they are biting where you are.

Just found out yesterday, on FB. Sad to hear, Lane was a great guide, and a good man. Funny as hell, and always made a trip a blast. My late spring freezer filling trips will never be the same.
Gonna miss ya' Lane. Fish in Peace.
