Has anyone gone down and done some tarpon fishing on the Gulf Coast side of Florida? If so, where did you go out of?

I know nothing of the gulf coast , but have made maybe a dozen trips to the Keys , going back to the 80's.
From inside Haulover inlet ,to the bridges near Marthon to the Harbor at Key West,

Let me know If I can answer any questions

good luck

I also have caught most of mine in the Florida Keys. There are also fish commonly caught in Panama City Beach, Tampa, and many other places. The prime month is June.

There's a lot of Gulf side to Florida. Where are you heading? Boca Grande is considered the tarpon capital of the world.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Looking at going to Tampa to make a family trip out of it as well. Would love to go down the the Keys but I think that's a trip for when my kids are older if either of them get the fishing addiction like their dad. Thanks for all the replies.

I am driving to Flamingo Everglades, leaving tomorrow morning and should be fishing late Sunday or early Monday.. they have had some bad winds all last week, with gusts to 40.. starting to clear but still steady winds 12 to 15 for most of this week. Water temps in the high 60s.. which isnt good for tarpon and snook.. dont have any idea about Tampa area lately.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
