I know 2 are better than 1....question is.....are two necessary?

For those who use the Durasafe E-Locks or the BoatEFX GraphLOX do you really need two?

I know a thief will figure out a way to take anything, but trying to make it more difficult is the goal.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I use two on bow units, but could get away with one really. Only reason I keep two on now is that I anchor my bugee cord around them to secure the cover when trailering smile. I use the metal BoatEFX locks which are pretty sturdy - the DuraSafes are just plastic tubes really and a waste of money imo... more for looks.

Console I only have one on each unit, couldn't fit them on the insides even if I wanted to.

TBH, if I didn't already have locks, I would likely just use torx security screws, or this version of them...

Oh I see....didn't know about the security screws. I may give that a try first. Thanks for the information.

Good guy bass angler: "I need to put those locks on my graphs"
Thief: "Oh look, locks. I'll just unhook the bow strap from the trailer and wrap it around the bow units. Now I can simply winch the units AND the mount right out of the fiberglass. Nice!"

Think I'd just include a "contents / accessories" rider on my insurance policy and avoid the boat damage.

I take my graphs off each time since I can't park the boat in my garage. If you've got thousands of dollars worth of graphs just take them off the boat when storing it remotely.

Seriously though;
They make lots of different small, battery powered alarm systems now that detect motion, compartment opening, etc. that include cell phone notification, super loud alarms and even cameras. Some less than $30. Might consider those if parking at hotels or lake side cabins.

For example.
