ALCS, Game 7
First Pitch 7:03 p.m.
TV:FOX (Ch 4 in the Metromess)
This has been a great series with all kinds of drama attached. Final game tonight, winner take all!
The home team is 0-6 so far, but all bets will be off for this game. Every batter needs to be ready. Every pitcher not on the mound will be in the bullpen. You might see Verlander or Montgomery if needed. The managers will need all of their experience and moxie for this, and Baker and Bochy are two of the best at adjusting to changing situations.
Mad Scherzer will start for Texas. He was rusty as hell in his last start, but my guess is that he will be the “Mad Max” that Texas fans and teammates expect to take charge on the mound.
Cristian Javier will start for the Stros. I know they have JV and Valdez in front of him for starts, but he may be their best pitcher, at least right now. He’s 2-0 with a crazy 1.69 ERA and has 12 Ks in 10.2 innings in the playoffs. Even his career postseason numbers are fantastic. 6-1 with a 2.08 ERA, and 60 Ks in 43.1 innings pitched.
And the Stros have Bryan Abreu with an *. The reliever has appealed his 2-game suspension for hitting El Bombi in game 5. Under appeal he was allowed to play last night, and even got to pitch to Garcia. But his appeal will be heard today. If his suspension stands, he will immediately be suspended for his next two games, including tonight (and game 1 of the WS if Houston wins). If the appeal is over turned, he will be available tonight.
The Texas bats returned to life last night and resulted in 3 HRs and 9 runs scored. If they are on tonight, it will be hard for Houston to win, regardless of who’s on the mound.
If Scherzer is on and the bats are hot, Texas will win in a romp. If it stays close, Houston has a good chance. Winner gets the brass ring. It’s going to be fun!

What are the vegas odds on the game? The Astros are a home favorite (-126) against the Rangers (+106).
