I'm kind of curious how common satellite phones have gotten these days. Do any of you guys carry or use one of these for any reason?

You can get unlimited worldwide sat texting with a Garmin InReach for $65/month - it connects to your phone via Bluetooth to use the keyboard. But I guess if you have sat phone money, then going the cheap route isn't all that important.

I don't know that I've ever even laid eyes on a sat phone except in the movies.

I've always used a Samsung - I had no idea an iPhone did that. That's a really cool feature.

Pretty darn sure a Samsung won't do that.

I was looking at that service. I've known a few people that have used that and they said it works flawlessly.

When my dad first got his big Sport Fish, he stayed on it in Bimini for a month. I can't remember what the bill was but it was insane. He was able to get some sort of package from AT&T going forward that reduced the cost a ton.
