Wood you help a brother out?

In anticipation of getting an electric log splitter for both cooking wood and fireplace wood I have started collecting logs where I can find them.

The logs in the middle that have a decidedly reddish color to them, does anyone recognize what type of tree those are from? and whether they are for eating or heating?

Kinda looks like China berry to me. Burn it. Wouldn’t cook with it.

You may be correct sir, and I think I will not be using it in the cookers, it will get tasked for fireplace duty.

Not Mesquite, judging from the bark I would say some kind of oak.

Get a good moisture meter. Inexpensive, for years of use.
