Where is a decent place to stay around the Lake, doesn’t need to be 5 star, but bedbugs and warf rats are not on the list of wants. We stayed at a place beside an Exxon station once, is it still open? Thanks

Yes it's still open.
Someone on here also has a house they rent out that is on the water, pretty reasonable.
Perhaps he'll chime in.

Do you have a preferred location on the lake? East, west, north or south. Water front? Off water? House ? Hotel? A little more info might help.

Motel is fine, just a decent place that doesn’t break the bank. Where does most of the tournament folks stay?

Country side inn is where I normally stay. The Mexican restaurant in front is decent.

Country Side in would be a good location. South side off of Hwy 31 before you get to Malakoff. You could then go up the east side on Hwy 198 to launch at Log Cabin or up the west side on Hwy 274 to launch at Lone Star Marina. I don't know of anyone who has stayed there so I can't speak to the quality of the rooms. On the west side in Tool, their is a place called The Ranch Suites. I have had some friends come in for fishing and golf and they stayed there and liked it. You could go south and launch at Lone Star or north and launch at a couple of locations on Hwy 334 between Seven Points and Gun Barrel City. There are some hotels in Gun Barrel City but I don't know much about them because they keep changing hands. The key is where on the lake do you want to fish and what are you fishing for?

Just make sure you don’t turn left outta the parking lot. Lol

Country Side is pretty convenient If you are going out of log cabin. You have the whataburger for breakfast and the station opens fairly early in morning for other stuff. Can some people staying there be sketchy? Absolutely lol. It's speeder creek. They have pretty good boat parking and I have never had an issue. Just lock your stuff up and bring anything you are super worried about in the room.
