I have a V bottom 10' aluminum and use a 36# thrust trolling motor. When a 15+mph wind blows across the bow, it doesn't hold direction or change direction fast without increasing speed thereby drawing more energy. Amazon has various rudders that attach to the tm shaft above the prop. Anyone use one or think it could help hold course?
Now that I think about it, the rudder would prevent pulling the shaft towards me into the horizontal position when running the gas motor because it locks in place not far from the control. It would only be good for bow-mount boats

I had something like that many years ago, and it made the steering extremely Twitchy and sensitive. I had to constantly have my hand on the tiller making microcorrections. I don't know if that's true for the one you referenced.
