Hey guys, very interesting thing happened Monday my dad and I went out fishing and he ended up catching a nice one on Lake Ray Hubbard....
Tuesday night we go. out again, near the same spot (about 100 yards away) and I catch the same fish he caught from monday...on the same lure he was using..
We know its the same fish because it has these holes in its lower mouth that were huge and distinct.
Do you guys ever catch the same fish twice? back to back days?
at the ranch I caught a 10.2 in late Feb and tagged her. Mid June I caught her Again and she weighed 9.5. Different bait but pretty much same color, red/black.
My cousin and I caught the same bass 3 years in a row off the same riprap. It had a deformity, like its back was broken. The 1st and 2nd year it was a tad short to make the trip to weigh in. It made it the 3rd year. Haven’t seen stumpy since… hopefully I catch him during the BassChamps Championship. Should be about 8-10 pounds by now…
I caught the same fish 3 times in about a 7 day span. it must have been spawning or guarding fry because it was beside the same tree all 3 times. It was very distinct and had all the holes in its lip I had put there. Lol
Same bass in exact same spot near a dock on Pines. I caught it in Friday practice solo and partner caught it to weigh on Saturday. When I saw its coloration and deformed back, I knew!

A really good study on tournament caught bass was done TPWD on Toledo bend...it confirmed that many bass stay in the areas for months after they are released if there is food. Also one of the most interesting things is that bass live and eat with 100 yards of an area...they have a home and they have a feeding area...and they don't normally "migrate" out for the fall and winter....
There is also a 5 part youtube talking with Mark Driscol who did the study. Very good listen if you want to hear about all the bass they tracked on Toledo Bend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYYmscMNg0E
Either way I think that bass may stay there and just gets smarter and stays away from baits in the future... we'll see
caught a 4lb fish with very distinct markings plus a deformity on it's back in tournament on lake martin...weighed the fish in and it was released about 12 miles away from the brushpile i caught it in....two weeks later,I catch same fish, same jig & pig bait same brushpile...fished this brush pile several times later but never caught the fish again.....this fish had to swim couple miles down narrow part of the upper lake then across several miles of open water and 2-3 miles up a creek to get back to the brushpile from where it was weighed and released... had a tournamet director tell a similar story about a fish that was caught in south Lousiana beside a stump, transported 14 miles to weigh-in...fish was tagged, released and returned within 2 weeks to where it was caught again beside same stump....and this return trp required several twists and turns into several bayous to get back from weigh-in location to where it was caught...
apparently animals including fish have a built in homing instinct....
Caught the same bass, once in the morning on a senko next to wood. Caught it again in the afternoon, same lure, same wood. This was in July a few years ago.
Years ago I set the hook on one that broke me off. The next day about 100 yards down the bank, I caught one that had my lure hanging out of its mouth. Not technically catching the same fish twice, but pretty close.
Grapevine Lake: Same fish, same bait 5 days apart. Location was about 100 yards different. And the last fish, "ol' Quasimodo" has been in the boat three times. Another guy also has multiple pictures of the"hunchback".
