...is that enough? Specifically the manufacturer website states that the reel holds 75 yards of 50 lb test braid. That doesn't SEEM like much especially for frog fishing from the bank. I am considering this reel for a frog setup, seems like a good one with a nice powerful drag.

Most companies have varying spool sizes that tweak the way the reel performs. I assume the Abu is doing the same thing. For examples there is a Shimano Curado 200K, a Curado 150K MGL and a Curado 70K MGL. All the same reel, different spools. - The 70 holds 105yd
- The 50 holds 120yd
- The 200 holds 155yd
The lower capacity (and lightweight) spools perform better when casting lighter baits. Smaller cranks, jigs, etc. For something like frogging, the 150 or 200 size spool will be just fine and you'll have plenty of line to break off a 10 pounder or two and retie throughout the day.

5 yards of mono backing, fill the rest with braid, game on… as already said you don’t want to long arm the cast in the weeds to much opportunity to lose the fish…

I don't trust Abu's numbers: mono 80yds/17# VS braid 75yds/50#

Texas has a lot of brush/trees, and a lot of monsters...I'd throw 65# minimum. Dobyn's frog rod, 735c, good backbone and light tip to cast a mile.

I don't trust Abu's numbers: mono 80yds/17# VS braid 75yds/50# Me either though doesn't make sense to me... Mono cap- 160/10 130/12 90/17 Braid cap- 170/20 125/30 90/50 The braid I am looking at says is 50 lb test, it has the same diameter as 14 lb test mono. Judging by Abu's published numbers above, the reel should hold around 110 yards of 14 pound test. But the numbers say it only holds 90 yards of 50 lb braid. Sure it probably isn't a huge difference (90 to 110 yards is 20 yards difference) and it'd be easy to just buy a 125 yard spool and be done with it (which I'll probably do) but I want to avoid buying too much line and having yet another partially filled spool of line to figure out what to do with lol.

My average cast length is about 15-20 yds. If Im lucky enough to hook a big one, it may pull off 4-5 ft of line before I can crank it back in. Why do I need any more line than that ? I'm using a lot less line now- Good luck

Less line capacity, usually means they can make the spool lighter and less likely to backlash.
