The big knock on the Titans is they don’t hold the steering well. By that I mean if you let go of the steering handle the boat will turn. Might not seem like a big deal for some but it was an absolute deal killer for me. Having pedals to me means hands free fishing. Being able to use pedal and cast is huge. Again this is for me. Your style of fishing might be different and may work. I will add the kayak market is the lowest I’ve seen in 7 years. Dealers are running specials on new kayaks. Even Hobie has authorized rare discounts for dealers on certain kayaks. With that brings the used market almost to a standstill. You can get really good deals on used kayaks right now and I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Jerry, that's a good point and I hadn't thought about that. I wonder if there is a way to stiffen the steering handle with some sort of packing or something to give it some resistenace. It seems that foot steering would be another option. The new Titan has rear propulsion options and has steering pedals and cables that are already integrated into the Kayak. I may just go front trolling motor and rear propulsion just to have all the options available depending on conditions. It's going to be an investment for sure but having options may be the way to go with this set up.

ths issue with hobies is the new ownership group is instead of replacing the hulls they are patching them which in themselves is a liabiity or denying warranty issues
quite a few content creators have talked about warranty issues and rxangler has sold his hobie and went back to old town cause of a warranty issue
my understanding with titan steering issue is that was fixed when they went with a different rudder that can be deployed vertically. it helped with the tracking issues.
hobies big resell factor was the tranferable warranty but if hobie is not honoring the warranty the resell value will drop

Hobie’s reputation isn’t what it used to be no doubt but it’s going to take a huge number of people getting the shaft before it starts to affect their resale value. Granted the used kayak market has taken a serious dive over the past 6 months which includes Hobie kayaks but the low, almost rock bottom prices isn’t isolated to just Hobies.

The YouTube community has forever changed my purchasing behavior. Thanks for posting these. Very informative. It is a big help for things like selecting a kayak. It can also drive you crazy because you can find too many negatives that, in the big picture probably aren’t a big deal or can be easily addressed like turning radius.

You can really go down the rabbit hole with reviews. I do take reviews with a pinch of salt because we all know individual user experience does play a big factor. One small thing may be hugely problematic for one person and a complete nonissue to the next.

If anyone is looking for a Titan X 12.5, it's my understanding Mariner Sails will have some on their showroom floor Tuesday AM, 10/17.

I recall when the first titans came out. They were not very impressive to me. That said I've always been a simpler kayak angler. Plus the cost of many of these new kayaks is so high its hard not to just buy a small boat. Native has had some of the most attractive kayaks. I've thought about many of their models in the passed but never pulled the trigger on one. I have noticed kayak fishing has died down quite a bit the last few years and that makes me a little sad.

Most things in life are a pendulum... extreme swings on both ends of the spectrum until it finds the natural middle with nothing more than seasonal movement. The same can be said about RVing... it was hot hot hot at the beginning of the Covid fiasco... now the RV market is soft. However, the craziness did introduce a lot of new folks to the RV lifestyle and some of them found something that they really enjoy and will stay with it. Net net, while softer than it was 3 years ago, RVing is still more popular than it was 5 years ago... I think the same is true of kayak fishing.
