several years ago, my wife and I loaded our dog up and took a 5 week,13,404 mile road trip...we left Albany in southwest Georgia, drove .up through Michigan crossed into Canada at Sault Ste Marie in Ontario,Canada...... then took the Trans-Canada highway 2027 miles across Canada to Canmore,alberta, turned north to the start of the Alaskan highway...we took the Alaskan highway north with a little detour to Dawson,City,Yukon territory then made a circle around Alaska, came back down through British Columbia,down west coast of USA back across Arizona,New Mexico,Texas and home...
Over next few weeks,I'm going to post some pictures of what we saw each day...
it was an awesome experience for us and hopefully it will inspire you to put this trip on your bucket list..
first two pictures are crossing Mackinaw Strait which separates Lake michigan and Lake huron in Michigan upper peninsula...3rd pic is going through customs into Canada at Sault Ste Marie and 4th pic is St. Mary's river which connects Lake Superior and lake Huron...

Day 1...starting our trip in Sault Ste marie and driving on Trans-Canada highway 463 miles to Thunder Bay,Ontario... as the pictures indicate,.highway follows the shoreline of lake Superior....

What a trip…..wow. My wife and I just did a 3000 mile round trip into south Florida, I did learn there is noway I could do your trip with her in the vehicle

This will be a great story. I'll get to relive my same trip we took in 2014. On that trip we entered Canada at Shelby MT going into Alberta. But I recognized the Mackinaw Bridge because we did that 2021. On that trip we stayed in MI and followed Lake Superior into WI.

In 2014 when we went, diesel was high but the US dollar was strong. We were getting an average of 7.5 to 8 mpg pulling a 39' 5th wheel. The average price we paid for diesel was 7 - 7.50 per gallon. The lowest was $6 ish and highest was $9 per gallon. It was our trip of a lifetime and I just paid it and went on.
