Hey y'all. I just moved out to the Tyler area, and I was hoping some of y'all could point me in the direction of some decent bank fishing spots. I've been pointed to the spillway at Lake Palestine, and Chandler River Park. I drove around Lake Palestine for a few hours, and for such a large lake it didn't look like there was much access that wasn't private. Are there any other decent bank fishing areas around the Tyler area? Any help and tips would be appreciated.

Hill Creek Park at Lake Tyler used to be decent but I haven't fished there in several years. Faulkner Park has a small lake and U.T. Tyler has two ponds. Both sites are Community fishing lakes. Tyler State Park has produced several ShareLunkers and has a good bit of bank access.
If you are just looking to go fishing and don't have expectations of catching quantity or quality then any of the above will work. I have caught decent bass from each but they are few and far between. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! I'll be checking out those spots. It's surprising to me to hear that Tyler State Park has produced any ShareLunkers. When I went out there it looked like people were mostly getting skunked. I figured a state park like that would be pretty fished out.

I think many fishermen at state park are fishing for catfish-at least the trash they leave behind is empty worm and liver containers. Disgusting!

I went to Tyler SP the other day and never got a bite. The bass can get big there because the state stocks trout every winter.

I went to UT Tyler for less than an hour Sunday afternoon and caught 9 in the smaller pond. All 9 together might have weighted 2 lbs but on ultra lite tackle they are still fun to catch.

bridge embankment, parking at kickapoo ramp, probably your best bet on Palestine... plenty of room and good for crappie and catfish from those Ive seen fishing it over the years.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
