I send mine back to Dobyns and get a new one. I'm close enough to take mine to TFO and get it replaced at a discounted price.

Yep...there are too many companies out there doing programs like this. For me it's worth spending a little more money and being able to trade them in if they get damaged. I'm about an hour from Dobyns so I make about 1 to 2 trips a year just to get new rods from ones that break.

I usually slash my leg or arm pretty good trying to break them down for the trash. Been there and done it. Now I cut em up with an air saw.

I stick it in a pencil sharpner and get it nice and sharp so I can put a vienna sausage on there and hand it my fishin' buddy in the back of the boat!

You can also get the reel seat off by cutting the blank leaving about 3 inches of rod on either end of the seat and boil them in water. Right after it starts to boil pull it out and see if the blank can be pushed through the seat, if not boil a bit longer and try again until it comes out.

Keep the guides and build a new custom rod when Iām bored. Yes I do get them replaced under warranty but, typically you scratch the serial number off the old blank.

I keep all my broken rods and patch them together to give away to kids. The smiles are worth the time I put in.

Falcon Rods give you a discount if you cut the label section of and send it to them. So I just keep that section and junk the rest... I can honestly say I've only broke one rod in the last few years and it was my fault... And for the last 2+ years I'm fishing at least 5 days a week... Dan

I'll admit it...most of the broken rods I have is due to me being clumsy or not thinking at the moment. One time I slipped on my dew covered boat right before launching, broke 2 rods that day. One day I was pulling out my favorite jerkbait rod, didn't open the rod locker lid all the way, it slammed shut and busted 4" off the rod tip. Wrapped braid around the tip of a rod fishing in the wind, didn't see it, set the hook on a 3-4 lbr and it snapped the top off.
There's only been 1 instance where I was completely perplexed by it....Megabass Oorchii rod. All my rods get put away with rod socks into the locker. As I pull out the rod I'm slipping off the rod sock and notice the last 4" are busted off. No use, nothing to blame, just busted. Of course I bought the rod used and it was past their warranty period. So I have it my garage awaiting the removal of the guides and reel seat.

I broke one of mine in a rod locker just a few months ago. Paid roughly 125 bucks through expediter program and got a brand new version of the rod. Old rod was about a 20 year old nrx. Sent it to gloomis and got a brand new nrx + reel no questions asked. Because of the warranty on those rods, i dont buy anything else. To answer the question, i send it back to the company and get a replacement for a small fee considering.

I really don't break that many to end up with a collection. I have kept a couple around to cannibalize for parts if ever needed.

If the top 6 inches is lost, it becomes a stiffer rod. If it's not worth saving, I cut off all the guides for rod repair.
