That rascal really blends in, I was thinking it was a wood pecker, but you’re correct.

As soon as he saw himself in the lenses of my glasses he started jumping around and showing off his feathers. He then jumped down and came up to within 3 yards of me , stood there staring at me for a minute then ran off to look for lizards



I have had this happen once before and that time I thought the roadrunner was going to peck the lense on my glasses , it was that close.

Haven't seen one in a long time.

Besides me, we have a few around here. They used to come up on the back porch with a lizard or snake in its beak and look in the window. It was kind of like they were showing off what they caught. Pretty cool!

I have seen a few around. I did not know they could fly.

I grew up in the panhandle , they were very common up there. I see one occasionally on my drive to work . There are not a lot here in East Texas.
