Hit JP in the tube last Sunday morning, and after some equipment issues hit the water at 7am. Water temp seemed to be right around 80 degrees (remember I'm in a tube so it's just a guess) with water visability at three feet. Lake is up by about three feet from my last trip there on 6/23.
The good- 15 fat sassy bass from 7am-12pm, with most of those coming between 10am-noon after I figured them out a bit. Some small shallow fish on dropshot & senko, but the bulk were caught in 10-12 feet of water and averaged 2-2.5 pounds. Everyone of the deeper fish were relating to grass and fell for a dropshot, leader lenght 9-10 inches. Weight started out at 1/4 but I cut it down to 1/8 to work the grass easier.
The bad- Other than a few early equipment issues with the tube all went well until I decided "two more fish and I'm going before the weather catches me". On the last fish of the day as I have it right alongside the tube my $150 dropshot rod snaps 9 inches from the tip....AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! Oh well, I been looking for an excuse to buy a new d/shot rod.
The ugly- The gol dang wakeboard boat that insisted on pulling their wakeboarder within 50 feet of my tube time after time, when they have the entire area almost to themselves!! I moved down the shoreline twice to get away from them and son-of-a-gun if they did not follow me!!!! I normally just forget the water lice and focus on the fish but this idjit just kept pushing. It got so bad that I finally took my whistle and hung it on my shirt in case I had to try to warn the bozo off from actually hitting me. I tried to verbally given him heck but he had his freaking music up so darn loud there is no way I could make myself heard and he was clearly ignoring my motions to move off or when I waved him over to discuss his unsafe boating.
Anyways a nice morning on the water with a few fish to go with it. I think if the weather and water level ever stabilizes for a few days the bite at JP will really get good.

Jim----Call the GWs next time the wakers get too close. They love to eat those guys up.

Redneck Sooner- I usually just park at one of the turn outs and launch at the closest access point. As long as the shorline is not too overgrown or steep your good to go. You will have to carry the tube just a little bit but they are pretty light so it is not too bad. But you can also launch at say Lloyd or Britton or Lynn Creek Park since all you need is some shoreline close to a decent fishing area.
Fishing Rich- Serious question here...Would the GW's really show up because of one call from one tuber about one wakeboat? I had my cell with me but I did not think my call would really generate any response. I thought about waving down a patrol boat of some kind that was in the area but they must have got a call cause they suddenly roared away so I just kept a close eye on him and kept fishing cause the fish did not seem to care one bit.
