Anyone have thoughts on why the A-rig was banned and FFS isnt? I dont think either one should be banned, but it seems FFS has given a bigger advantage that the A-rig had before it was banned. A rig is fishing with more than one bait at a time.

If it weren’t for sponsor dollars I think BASS would not be adverse to banning FFS from the Elite Series if the majority of the anglers wanted it gone,
The ARig was not connected to major sponsor dollars.
Not all the Anglers wanted the ARig gone. Some did, some didn’t. I rode with Bryan Thrift in the Toyota Texas Tournament on Conroe right after the FLW announced they were banning it. He threw it on the FM 1097 bridge piling. Another Angler came by and razzed him “you better put that down….”. His reply was “if it’s legal and will catch them I am going to throw it.” He felt everyone could throw it if they wanted. He didn’t seem to care either way if they banned it or not.
He caught a 4.5# on the third piling he fished from the east side. That cost him a lot of time fishing more than “a half dozen on either end” that he said when he pulled up.
Some anglers probably liked that they didn’t have to throw half the tackle box out every cast and the wear and tear on shoulders.

Some Pro Fishing Organizations will probably ban FFS in the near future. Average weekend angler will continue to fish as they please with FFS or not.

Electronics companies pump a lot of dollars into the pro leagues directly as well as through their sponsored anglers. There is not a long line of companies wanting to sign up as corporate sponsors for either league to where they can just turn down that money the electronics company provide so easily.

Bingo and I don’t think either should be banned.

Totally agree........ I agree as well which is I why I double down on how it is utilized. If the A-rig can be banned in top level competition so can the drop shot. Keep the tech in play but take away the #1 technique implemented with it. Challenge the field to find other ways to catch those same fish.

It was my understanding the reason for banning the "A-Rig" was because of the number of baits it has (five). Which gave you the possibility to catch your whole limit in one cast. Something that did happen on rare occasion. No other bait has that ability. Especially a single hooked drop shot.

If ffs is ok then let’s get rid of all rules a rig jumping small piece of ground to get in backwaters . I say whatever you need to do other than out right cheating like tieing Fish to a stump. If you snag one oh well it’s in the live well. J. D

Here is my opinion ,
If we are a society that is always advancing technology for the better of mankind then you should use the new technology. IMO
Now is FFS on TV Boring YES !
Fisherman as myself like to see a angler put together a pattern and watch it come together from depth, bait selection, wind, temp, and all other variables. That gets most fisherman excited.
I see this excitement with my customers when we fish shallow and they see cover to throw at. When we fish offshore and the customer see's nothing but open water they get bored and lose focus and confidence pretty quick.
We as anglers love to call our shots , like that log laying there has to have a fish by it. Then you throw beside it and Bang !!! He is there. Makes you feel like you know something or had a vision come true.
FFS is like watching someone playing a video game, and only person can play at a time. Not much excitement in watching that.IMO
A fishing pattern is Like a football game you are waiting on the next play being called to see if it is going to work, it is like when you put a game plan together or a pattern while fishing .
One other thing to add, the A rig. Never understood a tournament trail use this line, All local, State and Federal law must be followed.
Then the A rig comes along and it is legal to use in your state with 5 or more hooks but a Tournament trail say nope you cant use it or if you do you can only have 2-3 hooks.
Did you not just go against the rule of local, state, federal laws must be followed. IF TPW allows it you should be able to fish it ! No different than the size limit you go by. IMO

IMO That just about sums it up as good as I have seen. Not sure why there has been such angst concerning this but then again I personally don't have a problem watching someone use FFS. I watched a pretty interesting video the other day with a well known pro showing how he finds a school of fish and works Swimbaits to catch the fish. Of course I grew up pitching and when watching the Rangers or any baseball game I prefer a good 2 to 1 game and concentrate more on the pitchers strategy than I do hitters jacking balls into the bleachers.
