The last report I see for Bastrop says the water in 97 degrees, I think. Is this the case?

I went over by the discharge at 1pm before i left the lake recently and read 101 at the surface from my transducer.

I think right now over by the deepest part of the dam drop off is is your fair to slow chance working a crank hoping doe just a pure reaction.

I was just advised they will be pumping treated wastewater into this tiny 900 surface acre lake.

"I was just advised they will be pumping treated wastewater into this tiny 900 surface acre lake."

Do you have any additional information about this?

A did a quick Google search and found these two permits:

A 2019 permit to discharge small volumes of wastewater from the power plant into Lake Bastrop:

A proposed permit to discharge wastewater into the Colorado River near the city of Bastrop:

94.5 this past weekend.

95% of the grass is gone and lake is turning over. Boated 5 for the two of us.
Sucked.

I would have thought the grass would be overgrown. Hmmm.

My Wife and I went to Bastrop today. The water was at least 95 degrees in the main body of the lake and 101.7 at the discharge. THE EEL GRASS IS COMPLETELY GONE! Anything coming up from the bottom is covered with that @#$ green filamentous algae.

In 15 years of fishing Bastrop, I have never seen a die-off like this. I have seen an assortment of different vegetations invade from time to time, but never a clean sweeping like this.

Someone please tell me this wasn't due to chemical spraying. frown

Maybe the chemicals used to treat the waste water had some effect, one thing for sure is we will never get a straight answer from anyone about what they do to our waterways, as they say it's way above our pay grades.

LCRA killed it off. But there are eel patches in the very backs of coves. Zero soft grasses.

Gonna have to fish it like the late 70s/early 80s when no grass was present. We used spinnerbaits and cranks yesterday for the first time in decades and ended up with 19. 16 were 2+.

Funny thing is the water is clearer without the grass.

I am just asking; how do you know they killed it off? There is no eel grass in the areas that I fish.
