Why does it start so early in the year?

Looks like the best way to get 6 tournaments in and avoiding the heat. Most groups try to be done in June. A lot of the guys that I know that fish these can really only commit to one a month.

We're working to avoid fishing tournaments in late Jun - Sept. Putting this out there for feedback as well. So if we run into commitment issues due to multiple during the month, we will look at staggering. But ideally we're done prior to July.

We had to reduce the hours for tournaments in late June / July last season. This may help reduce that and provide more time fishing.

Always just puzzles me when tournaments start in January, the coldest month of the year. Even February can be miserably cold. I've always thought the ideal range would be late February or Early March through whenever. At least in the heat, you can cut a few hours off the tail end if you choose to avoid the heat and being on water, you could get yourself wet to cool off. Can't do that when it's cold. Just my thoughts.

I fish January hard so it wouldn't bother me to start then.

I'd much rather fish Jan / Feb than July / Aug.

Heck, I might even do that this year.
