It's actually a very smart move.

He dressed the way he did because him and the school weren't seeing eye to eye, and we're setting the stage for him to be fired. My speculation is it had something to do with removing the course to appear more socially accepting (codeword for too many white males, white male sympathisers, or under represented non-white male presence in the shop course).

During the fiasco, not only did he not get fired he received "praise", but only because it was in the best interest of the school -- until they practically stalked him into a grocery store not wearing the bazunkas. They then placed him on paid leave.

The dude successfully played the school's stupid system into paying him, a guy they were about to fire because he is both white and male, all the while not having to work. And if you noticed, once media realized the gig was up they stopped with the support and praise and tried their damnedest to brush it under a silent rug.

He even forced some of the liberal Canadian parents to reconsider teacher scrutiny. NYP: "One mother named Lynn told the school board Wednesday that “forms of identity and expression presented in the school environment [must] be scrutinized against the child’s safeguarding practices.” "

Now whether or not she wants more scrutiny because of a potential hazard with trans gendered teachers or because she realized early on he was scamming their whole system is beyond me.
