I was raised to idle under every bridge and as I started boating, I do this as well no matter if it's posted or not. Way too many stories of boats blowing past others under a bridge creating some sort of dangerous scenario.

From the video I saw , looks like this was the short bridge at Highsaw/ Ledbetter creek ,

back when I launched at Lake Palestine Marina boat ramp , I always idled out past that bridge. I wonder which direction he was travelling.

The map shown in the KLTV story, along with the area you can see being searched in the video, indicate this was on the north end of the "big bridge" going south out of Dogwood City.

He had gone out fishing the night before, just him and his two dogs. Unfortunately this accident occurred during the night sometime so there was no witnesses but according to what I was told, he did not suffer...Somehow one of his dogs was found, alive and hurt but managed to make it to the bank. The other dog has not been found to my knowledge. I am going to attach this picture, to be honest its hard to look at knowing it could be anyone. The damage will tell you how fast he hit the pole so seeing this might make some consider slowing down in dangerous situations. Prayers for his family and friends...

I'm sure it will be a law at some point to idle only at bridges. That looks bad.

According to what I read he ran into one of the pillars at the Highway 155 bridge and was ejected from the boat.

I got that much. I was wondering if mechanical failure or abnormal conditions (big wake) may have contributed. Excess speed? …..that’s what I was getting at. I know not all bridges are no wake zones….I know if I idled into a bridge, I’d probably not get ejected from my boat. Sounds very preventable.

Probably horrible thing for me to say on this thread, but I busted out laughing at that.

Regardless of what caused it, praying for him and his family

I thought there is a law that any bridge there is idle only, not on pad.
