I caught a 14 in Florida about 100 years ago when I was 23. It was a small lake in the Ocala National Forest, someone told me they called it Bream Lake but I don't know if that is correct.
I lived in California for five years and managed a 14-11 sight fishing a 5" lizard, 13-6 (wacky Zoom worm) and 13-5 (9' MS Slammer wood swimbait) out of San Pablo Dam Reservoir. I caught a 13 out of Lake Del Valle on a dropshot and a 14-6 sight fishing out of Shadow Cliffs. I caught several 12s also in Cali.
About 6 or 7 years ago I am almost certain I lost a 13 plus on Falcon. She hit in an underwater tree and shredded my line for 10 feet, jumped 2 foot out of the water and then the line broke. Interesting thing was she was almost black, all of the other bass I was catching were regular old green. I also lost some giants at Fork, Florida, California and Mexico. My biggest in Mexico is 11 3/4. I lost one on a chatterbait there about 3 years ago...the next morning the guide told me he dreamed about how big that bass was, lol. Come on man

Fished Fork from late 80's and all of the 90's and beyond during it's prime. I have about 4 memories of giant fish I had on that I never got to the boat that there is no telling how big those fish could have been. It is crazy the time I spent on that lake and yet my 3 double digit fish caught came on other lakes, Murvaul, Bob Sandlin and my personal best 12.01 at Palestine on practice the day before the Federation State Top Six tournament back in the mid 90's. I have a hard enough time catching any fish these days but I realized that big fish can come on any lure in any conditions at any time of year. My 12.01 came on a Golden Shiner Slugo in a creek heading into spawning grounds during the spawn in about 4 feet of water. Had a 10.89 caught on a Carolina rig Zoom Lizard on Murvaul in a ditch leading to spawning area in the spring. And I caught a 10.50 on Bob Sandlin middle of the summer at night on a small Larews Craw off of a point in 4 feet of water. I remember these so well because quality fish like these didn't happen for me very often so I cherish even those fish that got off and remember those times very well.

This thread title should have been "How many have caught a double digit bass" on a public lake? Catching a bass over 10 pounds is very rare and most will never catch one. To catch a 13 pound bass is obviously more rare and not many will catch one, much less more than one. I think it was a unique way of saying "look what I done" by original poster...lol. It is the internet, so it all must be true!

Cali was special in the 90's You got that right! So many places were hidden gems, before the internet blew everything up.

It is the internet, so it all must be true! Truth! A TRUE double-digit bass is still a rare animal! Lots of 7-9# fish that have been Big-eyed and called TENs. Some of the Fork guides have been very guilty of this especially since the mid 2000's when the fishing dropped off.

To each their own. I can't say I would be quite as humble if had a few 13's under my belt. I have 4 10+ with largest at 10.75 and smallest at 10.03 and I feel extremely blessed. My brother, (who can fish circles around me) and 4-5 close friends just as good as me or better, have a combined 3 between them all. The difference? I simply am out there more than them. Fishing, like most everything else comes down to simple math, probability, and basic analytics.
If you are catching 8+ 9+ lb fish, those 12-14 lb fish are not far away if the habitat supports em. Above all, you have to fish where they actually live and for some of us, that is hard to do. Kinda like G Man never winning an Elite event. Just because he has not won an event does not mean he isn't good or cant win. Those type fish are true unicorns and in actuality, you may have a better chance of being hit by lightning than catching a 13+ and sometimes lightning strikes people more than once. I don't think he is being "braggadocious", probably just curious, like all of us can be.
Most tourney guys are not fishing specifically for 13+ lb fish and neither are 90% of us. I, like most, cant fish for 1 or 2 bites a day or want to chase a "blip" in 40-50 foot of water on FFS. We just gotta "hope" we get a 7-9 lb kicker to anchor a bag.
Make no mistake my peasant 8-9-10 lb fish people, those are good fish too so don't get offended if someone wants to thump their chest a bit. It's quite the accomplishment and I would probably toast myself as well, it's what fisherman do. You tell me I am gonna catch a 13 + tomorrow and I would be the biggest braggadocious a$$ on the TFF...at least for a day or two anyway or until I come to my next tourney weigh in with 2 fish for 5 lbs.
