The Berkley PowerLizard was my go to bait when I joined. I eventually bought the lizards in 100 count bags.

I used to have a funny forum name, thinking I was clever and anonymous. I was a moderator on a knife forum and I pissed off some guy. That dude found out everything about me. Knew stuff that nobody could have found out. Scared the [censored] out of me. Ever since, I figured I might as well not bother trying to be clever.

I am from southwest Louisiana but I was living in California when I took a trip to Lake Comedero in Mexico. A fellow fisherman at the lodge from Texas, I think his name was Gaylen Woolridge (?) , good sized fellow and he told me used to guide at Lake Fork, and me
hit it off and shared fishing stories and ate our meals together.

Anyway, a strong front blew through one day and the next morning (our last day) it was temps in the 30s and crystal clear blue skies. We all agreed the odds of catching a 10 were practically nil. But I got lucky in a nondescript small ravine. I was throwing an 8" watermelon Zoom lizard (of course) when I had a fish on, I thought it was only five or six pounds by the size of the fight, it never jumped. The guide netted the fish, 11 pounds.

The guides had radios. When our boat pulled up to the bank at the end of the day Gaylen already knew about the fish and met me at the bank with "the California kid", lol. He missed the part about me being born in Louisiana but he sure remembered I flew to Mexico from California.

I couldnt get my own damn name or anything close on first email address I ever got, without a number. Finally settled on initial of my first name L - Louis and last name Conn and number 4. Took so many tries that when it finally accepted it I never used anything else, anywhere. It wanted all small case so it ended up lconn4.. Everyone thought it was the letter I (eye)... one of my buds was pissed folks would call me Icon instead of Lconn.. roflmao Later when he was in process of writing a book called Florida Icons.. I told his buds that he was writing the book about me... which pissed him off even more. roflmao

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Fisher

I grew up fishing and hunting the bottoms and creeks that make up Fork.
I was fortunate enough to fish it from before opening day in 1980, till the late 90’s.
If you did not have that privilege, you really can’t describe how it was. You really wouldn’t believe how it was unless you lived it. Those were the days. Ha.

If you never got to duck hunt above the 19 bridge, or the back of Birch in those days, well it too was awesome.

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Nickname my grandpa gave me 50+ years ago. For some folks that's the only name they know me by. It was derived from Berna Eli "Barney" Oldfield who was an American pioneer automobile racer; his "name was synonymous with speed in the first two decades of the 20th century."
