mens, i have an ultrex 52" 112. works great, but thinking of a new trolling motor. really like to get some weight comparisons, etc. i've heard good things about the garmin force. i have lost 6-7mph after going lithium, i know this won't make up for it, but it may help. .....and mine is 5 yrs old

I fail to see how going to a lighter weight battery loses you the speed. One thing is for sure though you put the G Force on the bow, it will scrub off 5-10 mph since it's a big heavy TM. That extra weight on the bow help your holeshot issue, if you have one, but it's going to get some of your wot speed.
They are a 100 pound TM and some of the most amazing technology out there, but if your wot speed is that important to you, your best bet is way old school TM on the bow.

Taking weight out the back changes the balance point and makes it harder to lift the bow, hence the loss of top end speed. Most can be had back by lowering the motor on the jackplate. Also the Garmin Force is no where near 100#'s. The 50" is 66# and the 57" is 70, about 15# lighter than the Ultrex.

I understand what your saying about the balance point. The problem is all you guys running these big 4-stroke engines, have the tail so heavy your lithium batteries get the balance point back to what you would almost be with the old 2-stroke engines.
I have to admit I had no idea the ultrex was more heavy than the Force. I would be all over the force TM regardless with what it gives you. Simply amazing technology what Garmin has with its TM. Heck I would not care how much speed it would take off my boat lol. The worse part of this new technology is the price point the marketing guys are setting. That would go for the batteries, TM's and sonar units...
