Thank you for the report kind sir. From 4' low to 4' high. That lake can make some big swings in a hurry. Looks like yellow is the flavor of the month.

Lake Level is 239.25. 1.25 ft. above normal. The COE dropped the flow to 408 early this week. The fishing has been great before sunrise and after sunset. Some days it will continue to be decent until about 9 AM as the white bass run up near the shoot. By that time I usually have concede to the combat fishermen anyway. I had a guy show up this morning. He tangled me on his first and fourth casts. I was going to move, as normal, but he said sorry and moved on. I won a battle for the first time and never said a word I've caught some catfish, goo, buffalo, hybrids and a few crappie as well. Pay attention to the 15 inch hybrids. I had to help 2 people who were stringing up hybrids yesterday. The game warden was up in the parking lot.

"combat fisherman" lol. 🤣
I've been contemplating making the four hour round trip drive, but just can't bring myself to do it for one to two hours of fishing time. Plus it's really hot out now. 😉

Lake Level is 239 ft. One ft. above normal. The COE cut the flow in half to 180 cfs. The number of fish seemed to be about half this morning too. I had to abandon the heavy jig flies and break out the Magical Clouser to be successful today.

Lake Level is 237.68 ft. 0.32 ft. below normal. COE is releasing 507 cfs. The farmers must be hurting for water. A couple weeks ago when the lake was a little over half foot above normal the COE shut the flow completely for a day or so. There were lots of dead hybrids and buffalo. Then they opened the gates back up a day or so latter to 507 cfs and they haven't stopped flowing since. There are a few white bass and crappie being caught, but mainly at night.
I walked the banks at the Marina this morning. There were lots of sunfish beds, but very sunfish. The first spawn is over just about everywhere I've fished lately.

Lake Level is 236.5. 1.5 ft below normal. No water is being released. I checked the spillway this morning but didn't see anything but turtles and gar swimming around. I went over to the lake side and fished for bluegill. I caught a bunch. They were spread out across the shallow area in the cove. They must be back on beds as they weren't related to any structure. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-89995-192991-080223_somerville_bg.jpg)

H J-moe thank you for the info - this is my new favorite spot with my new bass boat - Any tips on trolling for hybrids off shore ? Howdy Shanetx, I've only trolled for hybrids once. We trolled around the humps off of Rocky Creek park. I see people trolling along the dam as well.

Thanks for the Tip! I just got this new boat and only been on Somerville twice. First morning just trolled around a pet spoon with no luck, got to 100 and left water early. I did see some action on my sonar. Just trying to learn lay of lake really
Second Trip I did some night drift fishing to beat the heat.
Going to hopefully get out there tomorrow morning suppose to be 'coolest morning in two months' - Going to try my luck by the dam. I saw it day 1 but never made it over there.

I havent heard of anybody really doing anything around Somerville. Not visited the meth boards/arrests reports lately? Is somerville area really that bad? I live in bastrop county - every area has its bad spots. I want to start camping and launching at The Birch Creek Unit. I have a wife and a 3 year old kid Is this area safe to be camping and fishing? Dont want some methheads coming into our campsite at 3am or some [censored].
