The bite was good even though I didn't get to fish till LATE 11am. I didn't get to the lake till 10:30 but when I pulled up on my first spot I noticed 5 guys stuck out in the middle of the lake paddling. I towed them to the west side ramp. I met a local guide at the east ramp, Jeff Dodge. He gave me a few spots to check and told me about the algae bloom that was going on there and what I should be using to catch them. I used worms, deep divers and some 1/2oz spoons. I caught around 13 fish all between 2 - 3lbs(didn't have a scale). Fished from 11 - 5:30pm. IT WAS HOT with hardly no wind and sunny. I kept jumping in the water to cool off and drank a lot of water. It was miserable after 3pm actually but coming from Lake Houston I didn't want to stop catching bass so I pushed through it. Catching everything on points between 12-20ft of water. If Im missing any info just ask.
Had a club tourney this past Saturday (8/12) and the bite was way off. The algae bloom is getting worse. Might have 10-12 inches visibility! We watched Tilapia popping up gasping for air all around us, and dying left and right. I caught a 4.58 on the 1st cast and a 6.05 (on paper of course) a few minutes later. My partner caught 1 about 2.75 a little later. Left the inlet and went to a few other places that normally produce and neither of us got a bite. Went back to the inlet and fished for over and hour before my partner finally caught another that was pushing 5 lbs. All in all 17 people fished with only 7 fish on paper by 5 anglers. I also noticed a black oily substance on the water that stuck to my boat all the way around the waterline???
