Going to Orlando mid September was going to try and make a run to Lake Okeechobee while I was there. Is it worth mid September? Who do y’all know / recommend to go out fishing with ?

Might try asking that on the Florida Fishing Forum.

I fished it for a day in late February and used one of the bassonline.com guides. They were on fish and we had a great day. You have to be specific about what you want to do and how you want to fish, most want to shiner fish. Shiner fishing is a LOT of fun if you have not done it but the price of your trip goes up as the wild shiners cost about $20-$25 a dozen. I asked for an artificial trip in Feb. and we fished topwater pretty much all day catching some really nice post spawn fish up to about 7lbs. I have also fished up there closer to where you will be on both Toho and Kissimmee which are also great and fish very similar. Okeechobee was awesome though and very worth doing.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Thank you. Didn’t know there was a Florida forum. Just worried about the month of September at that lake

If lookin for a guide try Tight Splice Charters Capt Cody Davis knows the lake like the back of his hand. Look him up on YouTube.

Major algae bloom on chobee right now and it won't be gone anytime soon. There are places to fish but i would steer clear of Chobee right now. Chuck Pippin is a pretty solid guide if you want to stay close and fish on Toho or Kissimmee. (407) 580-8458 is his number. Both will be good in September. You can catch em on shell beds, offshore hydrilla, or punching grass.

May also want to check out Headwater Lake. It's between Chobee and Kissimmee. Giant fish paradise. If you ever watch any JT Kenny videos, then you'll see what Headwaters is about. 302-420-3900 here is the number to a Palm Bay guide. They fish Headwaters, Garcia, & Stick marsh. Garcia is my favorite lake in Florida!! all of the Palm Bay lakes are great and you will catch some good fish.

BE WARNED. Lots of guides will bring shiners on the boat and you will be charged for them. Make sure that to tell them you do not want live bait. If you want live bait, then tell them but you will pay a hefty price for the shiners. IMO, you won't need shiners on the Palm Bay lakes.

Hey North, I'm headed there around that same time. If you'd like to split a trip pm me.
