Heading down to Port A this weekend for some fun in the sun and a whole lotta fishing. Hope to hook into something worth a picture I can share. cool

Anyone willing to offer up some advice as I have never caught anything worth mentioning down south? Do I hit the jetties or stay on the beach?

Tightlines all fish cool

i'm no expert by any means but i've caught a handful of nice fish off the port Aransas south and north jetties. If it were me i'd feel more fishy on the jetty than i would on the beach. not that you couldn't catch nice fish off either. how far you walk down teh jetty is up to you. i've never put in the effort to walk more than maybe half way down. other than that look for bait, look for birds. its always worth the time and expense to have good bait. i prefer croaker/mullet over shrimp just because it keeps better. every nibbler in the sea eats shrimp. but for black drum or sheephead the shrimp would probably be a better choice. fish cut mullet on bottom for reds, fish live mullet or croaker preferably free lined or with very little weight within the first10-15ft of the rocks edge for trout or reds also. or artificial bait spoons are always good or other mullet/fish imitation swim baits.
