Heading to Whitney next week and was hoping to get a few tips on patterns or what is working right now. I'm going to bring the shad tank to try to catch some but I've heard it's a little difficult on Whitney. Any thoughts on netting shad out there or will live perch or big minnows work just as good? What artificial baits should I bring with me? Hoping to have my splasher setup installed before we head out as well. Any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks!

haven't fished there last couple of weeks, but 2 weeks ago fished area from state park, island and dam. Top water in those areas early morning until boats run over and game over. As about 9-10, then sporadic top water here and there for 30 sec or less. Fish on move often. Once top water done, we would burn 1 oz slab and let it fall on flats from park to dam area. Its not current but hope it helps. Didnt use live baits.

Thank you sir. I’ve only been on Whitney one time during the winter and we were dead sticking. Appreciate the info!

Fished Whitney today and had 4 mans limit by 1100. Got on water at 630 am. Since Southwind, we headed to south shores at state park. There were top water there for about 1 hrs. After that's done, we headed toward the dam at Loafers bend west. Caught more top water actions and few more fish. Marked a lot of fish and tried slabbing but no takers for another hr. Then head toward state park again and cruised the south shores between state park and McCown. There would be top water here and there until 1100. Caught our limit and called it a day since it was getting hot. all artificials.

Very Nice! My 11yr old son and nephew got our 3 man limit on the first day too which was Monday morning. We were just trying to keep up with surfacing schools that kept moving just out of casting distance! Caught them all on the heavy MALS. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-3262-194065-img_0405.jpg) Tuesday morning we had to resort to trolling and ended up with 12 keepers. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-3262-194066-img_0411.jpg)
