Taking a family trip up to Big Tex this weekend and wondering what we need to tie on the end of the rods? Is topwater still good in mornings? And if we have too many the night before, can we still catch them during the day? We’ll be staying around the railroad tracks in the Washita arm. Would very much appreciate any reports. Thank you!

I went out around the Platter Flats area the other day. Pretty much needed live shad and the bite was non existent after 9:30 am. That was my experience anyway.

Good deal. I've mostly been crappie fishing out there but I hear the striper are doing good down towards the dam. Topwaters and slabs.

I have not been fishing Texoma lately because Tawakoni is a hour closer but I use to hit it hard. Like Chris B stated near dam on topwaters or slabs. Also check the river channel off Burns for suspended fish and count down a slab. I primarily fish live bait but with the warm water bait can be tougher to find and keep lively. My experience was starting about mid July it was time to get out the pencil poppers early and then slabs.

I went out this morning and there was a ton of topwater action close to the RR bridge east of Alberta Creek. Probably the most topwater I've seen this summer.

Well we gave it a shot this morning and didn’t fair too well. We did find some scattered small fish hitting the surface, but just couldn’t get anything to touch our lures except for 1 small one. Gonna give it another shot tomorrow.

Try to catch some shad. You'll have to get up early and drop a light if you have on,e but you'll definitely catch them on live shad anywhere from 20-45 ft of water and fishing at or ab I ve the thermoelectric which is somewhere about 30' depending on where you are on the lake.

If you want shad try back in the marinas before light. Little Mineral and Lighthouse were always my top choices but I launched in that area. McLaughlin creek is also a good area.

10-4. Yeah I could see the thermocline around 40ft where I was at. Was marking good fish in 20-30ftw. Tried everything in the box and they wanted no part of it. Thank y’all for the insight.
