Just curious, what are your thoughts on professional fishing being a staple sport in the world of competition? Is the technology changing so fast that the sport can’t gain foothold. I understand that market is driven to sell products, but until the sport is stabilized, will we see growth on the professional level? The changing technology seems to be pushing fans out every generation.
The sports that have a strong foothold in the world have limited change. Baseball, football, soccer, golf, tennis, and basketball. The athlete and talent is the constant.
Seems that the major series are seeking viewers such as tv or even live streams now. But is technology changing so fast in fishing that it’s alienating its own base? Would standardization on a long term perspective improve buy in?
Just thinking strategically. Thoughts?

It will always be a niche sport. This, it will never have the wide spread interest to attract big sponsorship dollars and they will always be forced to play for their own entry fees. No matter what someone comes on here and says that is the reality. I'm sure it will always be around in some form but you will see trails come and go in various ways.

Just thinking strategically. Thoughts? You can't bass fish in an arena. It'll never be a main-stream spectator sport so it will never attract the $$ of a sport like football, baseball, soccer.... I love watching it but the other 98.9% of the population in the world couldn't care less about bass fishing.

Not many people care about tournament fishing. It can only get so big. I am for making the sport smaller not growing it. Fishing pressure gets worse every year and technology makes it easier to catch them. Less pressure more fish for those fishing.

I don't think it's even a blip on tve radar of what most people consider professional sports. Considering a big chunk of the participants have to have money from other sources to survive I don't think the term professional applies most of the time.

I’d like to see it fail, just go away, like in the old days.

Seems like most “professional” bass anglers struggle and only a few like KVD and Wheeler actually live a life of luxury. Just look at all the desperation and cheating going on lately, them boys are desperate to feed their families!

But at least some sort of constant where talent can be verified and measured. In some aspects? The goal post seems to always move in professional bass fishing.

It’s an outdoor hobby that cross bread with gambling
Fun, addictive, but very limited success.
I think pro bowlers probably make more money
