Dam is in it's final stage of completion. GBRA is cleaning up the river bottom and sides of the river. Hopefully Lake Dunlap will be making it's comeback very soon. As for a reopening date I have not seen one posted.

The gates are scheduled to go up for good on July 28th. It is unknown how long it will take to fill. The WCID is guessing 3-4 weeks based on current flow rates, I think it will be quite a bit longer due to all the ground saturation under the banks that fill up private wells along the river.

Is there any way to have the water bypass that "public lake" called McQueeney?

Lake McQueeney on the other hand, is the only public lake in Texas that isn't really open to the public. If I am wrong, please point out an actual public ramp there. (If there is another non-public public lake in Texas, please let me know.)

There has always been public access to Dunlap and that is the Launch under the I35 bridge which is still there. Also private access pay ramp down toward the main lake.
McQueeney has a sketchy semi-public ramp far upriver that you can launch at your own risk! Not that the ramp is bad enough, but having your vehicle still there like you left it, or even if you'll have one when you get back.

It's a neighborhood ramp with limited park and the launch is rough from what I remember. It was years ago that I drove up to check it out, but I remember powerlines so it is probably a right of way. You can probably find it using Google earth. There has been a lot of discussion about that ramp on this forum over the years.

Jimbo last time I checked that ramp your talking about is just about wiped out. Don't even know if you can still access it anymore. It was a right away for Utilities company at one time.

I think that ramp is in the lakecreek "subdivision" its real small, its been years since i've been on it but it was rough then. best for small boats. Its a neighborhood association ramp, its not really public. you're supposed to live in teh neighborhood or i suppose have permission from someone who does although i sorta doubt that real monitored. not much parking there though either. and then its a decent run down river to get into mcqueeny. for launching a small boat it'd probably be ok. bigger at your own risk. parking at your own risk. i don't know it to be a super rough area but i don't spend a lot of time there either.

Sounds like everything a public ramp isn't.
