I really am interested as when I took my 3 sons back in early 80's to Bible Camp in Ringgold. La. we always used live crickets we picked up in Lufkin.
Course after the crickets we reverted to bread and even yesterday's pancakes.
Apologies for reminiscing but they were grand ol' times and most of my R&R is now here on the Forum.
You folks are awesome.

I haven't used crickets in a long time, but I'm sure some people do and they will definitely still work!

I do not fish with crickets, but have used them several times over the years. I have gotten very good results. Worms are a whole lot easier to find and easier to keep. Just about every fish loves a worm. thumb

I saw Ringgold, LA and thought someone else was from N.Louisiana. (I grew up in Bossier City)

We mostly use crickets for bream fishing when I was growing up but that may have been because they were easy to find. It seemed every mom&pop convenience store back then sold crickets. Caught a lot of fish with them.

FYI I live in Kingwood too.

When I was a kid, a billion years ago, I would catch crickets to feed the sunfish in a creek near my house. Watching a fish take a cricket off of the surface is very exciting. They do make good bait. lizard

My wife's uncle was an excellent fisherman. In his senior years he fished exclusively for sunfish and crappie in Arkansas and Louisiana. For bream he only used live crickets under a float with 12 foot pole, no reel.

Ahoy mate! We are in Sherwood Trails since '83. Have you fished River Grove on San Jac River? Before the back issue set back and the Harvey damage, we would fish for gills but too many turtles.

Back in Mississippi in my younger days, we used crickets to catch bream. Nothing better than a cane pole, pheasant quill float, split shot, aberdeen hook and a cricket to catch bream.

Thanks for the reply. I am looking for cricket mold to add to the Script-Lure fold to pass along.

Thanks for the reply. I had more luck with the dark red bugs then the gray ones.

Thanks Steve, I'll try them if by chance the Lord permits me the opportunity. I am looking for an injector old to ad to the Script-Lure corral.

Well I haven’t caught a fish in so long that i recently caught some crickets to try and catch some bream. I remember as a kid you couldn’t keep your line baited. Having said that, I had no luck on crickets. I did catch a few on night crawlers.
