i'm writing my will and trying to disperse, or sell, some of my "stuff"; one being, my penny / nickel / dime coin collection; how do i determine it's value? since i was told i had to include a price in listing an item on classified ads, let's say $10K, OBO; what information do you need to value it? pictures of coin books? anyone interested?

easiest way is to make an inventory spreadsheet, including grade,year...ect, info youd want to see if you were the one purchasing, pics and append a price per coin/ price for lot

God bless. Semper Fi.

Have them graded. Sealed in an essay.

Well, if you ever have reason to come to DFW, you're welcome to bring the collection to my office and I can give you my written opinion of value if you just want a value for estate planning purposes - have been collecting coins & banknotes since I was about 7 years old.

If you're interested in selling, I'd still have to see the collection to evaluate condition, rarities, etc

If this thread goes 20 pages you might not determine exactly what you are asking. Ha.
“Collections” cover a pretty large number of possibilities. Complete collections. Collections in process. Grade of coins. Then key coins present or not. Which pennies? Which nickels? Which dimes?

Love to see or hear more about it also.

Jeremiah 7:28 KJV

But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

Galatians 4 : 16

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Why are you worried about the value of the coins today? When I wrote my will I gave my coin collection to one of my granddaughters. My casino token and chip collection to a different grandchild.

Most coin collectors I've I've come across know exactly what they have. No guessing to the value.

With knowledge about what it takes to evaluate and price said collection.

Unless all it it is, is a big flower vase full of change.

some people inherit a collection
we have a coin from 1779 a Caribbean Island coin
& a couple of Nazi coins that I think are worth something
he also had some Roman coins, they are not that valuable
but you can hold something in your hand that is 2,000 years old

There's two places that grade coins. NGC and PGCS. NGC is tighter of their grading. PGCS is more liberal on grade.

If you have some serious coins. Get them graded. Which also proves they are what you say they are.

As I'm sure you know. Coin collecting is a ultra serious hobby. All of my graded coins are silver American Eagles. And If I had something possibly worth thousands. It'd most definitely get graded.

Sell them now and give the cash to whoever you're willing to. If it's grandkids, they will love it and you get to see them being happy because your not dead.
