played in bars a lot in the 70s, good friend was my partner and we were almost unbeatable, played for beers and sometimes cash. we cleaned up one night with a couple of drunk executive types (out cheatin on the wives), started at 50 a game and after 2-3 losses they went to 100 and lost 4-5 more. we bailed as soon as we collected the last win and had taken all their cash.

had another partner that was awesome at foosball, when I was a big thing we would play for fun and lose a lot till the cash came out, then katy bar the door. lol

there is a really nice regulation table here but I almost never play on it even though I still have my cue.

No. They are too hard to find and way too expensive now. I have a Booodworth, a Black, and a Southwest now.

As a kid if I was not fishing or hunting I was hanging out at a little dump pool hall, I actually worked there part time for awhile, have been involved in some fairly high stakes games years ago. Now I may pick a stick up once or twice a year, have tables at both of my homes, they mostly collect dust.

That about sums it up for me too. All the halls I used to frequent back in the day don’t seem too safe as I get older….for some reason. roflmao

if you consider bass tournaments as gambling,I was either gambling or practicing almost every weekend for 35 years...now i only enter a highstakes $1.00 on most fish and $1.00 on biggest each day when we go to picachos and El Salto each year.....from all the yapping, bragging and insults that the jackpot money (about $20.00) was equal to winning the super bowl....

I've always been very good at shooting pool. My dad was a longshoreman and he and his buddies would take me into ice houses and bet on me. Grown men hated losing to a snot nosed teenager so it was a fight to get out of a few of those places.

My dad was a world class golf hustler. I caddied for him in some epic matches.

One that I remember best, mostly because I was sworn for secrecy. 1967, Memorial in Houston, dad and some dude named Runt relieved Tommy Bolt and Homero Blancas from $3,800. You could buy a very nice car for that back then.

Probably should write a book about some of those battles.

the best thing about those Meucci’s was they ALL hit the same. The Meucci Original was one of the first “pro taper” shaft cues that Bob made. It has two shafts, one “normal” and one “pro”. Both Meuccis that I have in the collection are cues with Irish linen wraps that WERE NOT originally lacquered over. Those were special order cues. One has no lacquer at all and a metal sleeve over the standers 5/16 joint. The most valuable cue is the McDermott cue (RS13). It was a hand built prototype and was the cover cue on a few different billiard magazines. It is in 9/10’condition and was my playing cue for years.

While going to ETSU in Commerce, my cousin had a GF (very hot and became his wife) and both played the hall in town. Most would challenge her and she would kick their butts. Both had free beer while he got his degree.

An old girlfriend. When she was pre teen she moved her bed into the converted garage/playroom of her house that had a pool, table.
Her brother used to say she could kick your azz with a warped broom stick.
She didn't hustle, she could just flat out play.
We would play partners; on more than one occasion I had guys want to kick my butt because she would run the table repeatedly but they couldn't hit a girl.
She became a CPA and the guys that owned Clicks on Greenville Ave became one of her clients.

When I lived in East Dallas I used to drink in Ships (at the very tail end of Greenville Ave) a lot in the mid '80s to mid '90s. Forget his name but the guy was supposedly the #2 or #3 9 ball player in the country and owned White Rock Billiards but would play at Ships for fun. He and a buddy of mine used to play a bunch. My buddy said he learned a bunch from the guy, at $5.00 a game.
That guy used to love to clean out the SMU boys that would come 'slumming' down there.

Can’t do that due to Łódź hips and can’t shoot pool worth a carp due to binocular vision issues. Used to shoot 3 ball with the boys at American legion in Plano just to give them my dollars.

Anyone else played 3 ball?

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.
