So I've been toying with ideas to make a shrimp that will hang horizontally from a popping cork. This is my first pass with a hybrid clouser/wooly bugger. Not perfect by any means, but I think I may be on to something.

It is kind of fun to make up something as you go along. Please let me know areas that could be changed for improvement.

Started with a clouser minnow base, but I bent the hook 90 degrees at the eye so it would hang horizontally. Turns out it is not quite horizontal, so the next pass will put the led eyes on the bend directly underneath the eye.

After tying in the deer hair (undyed) to form the bottom of the minnow, I then used a chenile and hackle to bulk up the body like a wooly bugger.

Tied a couple peacock herls and copper flash to make the antennae in the front, and then finished off the top side with more deer hair like you would a clouser.

All of this is tied on an old trotline hook I found in the bottom of my box since I was just sort of playing around - about 1/0 size. My clouser hooks are not really long enough to bend into a jig.

that sir will catch fish! Nice work....I used tiny shrimp flies on the Taylor River in CO with very good luck! A translucent type color.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.
