Headed to Texoma this weekend with the whole family. As always, striper fishing. Lol Got skunked about 3 weeks ago and was looking for any help anyone can provide. Depths, locations, lures vs. shad, etc. Been lightning hot for the last few weeks so I was going to assume deeper water, just not sure what depth. Thanks so much!

I went out this morning and struggled. Only caught 2 fish on a slab. Also tried rattle trap and umbrella rig. All the guides were in about 30 feet of water and catching a few. Everybody was moving around a lot. If you can catch some shad and keep them alive I’d definitely have that as my Plan A. If it falls through go the lure route.

I have the KTTB radio app on my phone so I can listen to Texas Fishing and Outdoors starting at 5am on Saturdays and Sundays. Jacob Orr is the Texoma guide that usually calls in on Brian Hughes radio show and gives a report. That may give you some input if you can listen to him early Saturday morning.

I'm interested as well. I had a medical procedure done and I haven't been able to fish Texoma for quite a few months and it feels like my knowledge/experience is like starting for scratch.

We have camped for the last 15 years at Cedar Mills. Usually go to the north or east sides of the islands. With the boat we have, its too long a haul to get to Little Mineral, although I may push for that this weekend. Tired of getting skunked.

The thermocline is really prominent if you are looking for schooling fish there is plenty of that early and late lots of small to medium size schoolies and some overs on slabs at times. I don’t use live bait but I see live bait guys fishing up pretty close to the shore in 30 foot of water or less early and it must be working because they’re staying put. Seems it is already August in the fishes mind and they are running hard and fast.
