machinist TFF Team Angler Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 4,471 Lake Graham, Lot 30	I have a 1999 225 Opti. My manual says use Mercury Premium Plus. Somewhere Mercury changed their mind to run DFI oil. Well DFI was not TC-W3 approved. I don’t know if it is now or not. My whole problem with Mercury, Yamaha and Evinrude is that none of them own a refinery to make their oil. It is all made by a 3rd party contractor. Check the MSDS of your favorite oil to see who actually makes it not who puts their name on it.
