What kind of fish can you catch here and what should I use for bait. Never fished it before 'cause it looks kinda nasty but I've seen people fishing there lately.

There are some really good fish there, but it can be a beating to get to the water. It's really thick there, although with water levels being so high, you can probably fish in the parknig lot.

I've only caught catfish at the park area itself. If the water stays high this year the sandbass spawn next shoul be interesting. From what I've read, you could get a ticket if you cross over the warning barrier.

Drove by it yesterday and the water is almost up to 380!! They have the entrance to the park barricaded off but I saw people pulled over throwing a cast net and some others in canoes or kayaks. Would like to give it a whirl sometime if it is legal.

yeah, i sure wouldn't take my yak out there until the water settles down. the creek that runs between lakes lewisville & ray roberts is just **lousy** with gar...& the darn things always bump my yak & scare the be-jesus outta me!! wink

also, i won't go back there when the winds are bad. i was out there during that dust storm we had earlier this year. the limbs (and even large trees) were dropping right & left all over the place. glad to have gotten out of there unscathed!
