They actually now give you the option of purchasing the true 1 year license (expires 1 year from date of purchase) or purchasing the one that expires on 8/31. I believe the year from purchase license is $45 and the standard one is $28. I think it is new for this year as the clerk at Wal-Mart told me about it when I bought my license a few months ago.

Thanks for the correction, fisher79. I looked on the TPW site and I did not see the new license mentioned. $45.00 ? Man they think all Texas fisherpeople have $50k a year jobs and drive $40k trucks. I think we need to elect a brand new group that has not lost touch with reality.
