It is a waste of time sending people to China to extend the Olive Branch. The Chinese are going to what they are going to do. We never seem to learn that lesson.

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said he and other committe members are "closely monitoring what appears to be a significant cybersecurity breach by Chinese intelligence."

"It’s clear that the PRC is steadily improving its cyber collection capabilities directed against the U.S. and our allies," Warner added. "Close coordination between the U.S. government and the private sector will be critical to countering this threat."

Shut down all imports from those scumbags until they start eating each other in the streets, that will change things.

Chinese labor is now expensive (relative to Mexico and Central America) as they have gotten very good and efficient at mass producing essential computer chips, finely tuned CNC products, and pharmaceuticals.
We could bring it back to this side of world, but it would take at least five years or so.
If we shut down all imports today, we would have no new cars, electronics, or medical equipment (chips and parts) and widespread medication shortages. There would be no new livescopes, graphs, or anchoring trolling motors for 5-10 years.

If we go full blown idiot which it looks like it’s the way we want to go.
In 5-10 years we’re going to be standing around looking at each other like what just happened.

Lessons should have been learned from the 2019-2021 shortages.
Get the manufacturing back to this side of the world; it'll will be cheaper and more efficient in the long run, but with 4-6 years of growing pains.

Agree 100%. We had a President once, a true leader who said this same thing, bring back manufacturing to the USA.

Saying it is one thing. Actually doing it is another.

Due to labor costs here (the price of everything would at least double if done here), it would have to be done in Costa Rica/Guatemala/Honduras/etc. I don’t trust Mexico or any country with that sort of political or power structure instability.

"In 2016, Trump promised voters in key industrial swing states that he would end job offshoring. He said he would deny firms that offshored from U.S. government contracts so that they would bring jobs back to America in order to keep billions in lucrative government business. Yet eight out of the top 10 firms receiving government contracts during the Trump presidency have been government-certified as having offshored jobs, the report reveals."
