The best time to fish for crappie this time of year is in the most awful heat of the day, sun shining, south wind blowing. I don’t mess with night time fishing.

Back in a nice creek channel is a good place to drop an under water fishing light this time of year..........bout 8-14 deep.Give it an hour or so and you should start catching,if not move on to the next creek, they are there I assure you.

Not a crappie fisherman, but love fishing at night for those reasons. Usually, and I say usually loosly, it is significantly cooler at night. (lately its felt like 92 degrees at 2am so cooler is subjective. The best part is hand full of boats on the water at best, no jet skis, wake boats etc and its so quiet you can actually hear your self think. Very peaceful..love it.

Good Fishing and God Bless

Do the crappie stay on the brush piles at night? I was thinking about night fishing myself but all I ever fish are the piles.

We would find the biggest tree in the area drop 2 green lights have 2 cold ones.... then drop live minnows or white jigs about a foot of the tree and just hammer them for about 30 min then move the the next tree and repeat!

Do something different, you will be surprised what happens.

No, they spread out. It’s why I don’t go out on cloudy days in the summer or until after around 10 o’clock. Bright sunshine is what piles them up on the brush. As soon as that sun starts to go down they vacate the area.

I have been doing quite a bit of night fishing lately and it is very enjoyable, due to a few reasons. One the heat is not so bad obviously in the evenings/night time. Two, is I let someone with the proper dock light set up find the fish for me. Three I have been very successful doing this over the years, especially this time of year when it is so unbearable during the heat of the day. I usually catch a nice mixed bag of fish, crappie, and sand bass being mostly caught, but I will catch an occasional largemouth or catfish as well. I have lots of experience on Granbury, and Bridgeport with quite a bit of good luck.
