Folks, as the title reads we've booked a 12 hour charter on New Kingfisher, DSH, Port Aransas, Texas for Friday October 6th, 2023 for the RRHS BAPS program as with previous years.

Reason for the Friday date is Saturday & Sunday's Oct 1st, 7th & 8th were booked.

AJ season will not be open in October.

Plan is to stop & drop for grouper & other snapper species. Red snapper season will be closed. Then run & gun shrimpboats for tuna. Full. fun day with a chance to bring home solid fish.

Date: Friday October 6th Departure time 6 am return 6pm

Cost: At 20 spots, $255 per spot, that includes a $15 fundraising for the RRHS BAPS program.

Payments: $100 deposit due by July 24st, final payment, $155 due September 1st.

As with previous RRHS BAPS charter, you can bring your own food & drinks, & be limited to 20 people fishing. Feel free to look over the previous RRHS BAPS offshore charter threads to get a full read of what the trip is like.

Updated info from Tunatamer: NMFS posted at end of June that AJ season will be Aug 1st thru Aug 25th, 2023. So AJ is off the list now.[i][/i]

update, we are at 8 committed spots, 4 from TFF'ers. Couple other are checking things to see if can.

Sounds like a cool trip. What is the boat length for the New Kingfisher ? I assume you guys are you throwing poppers for Tuna on the shrimp boats and bring your own equipment for that.

You can throw poppers if you want but few people do. Around shrimp boats the typical method is to gather biscuit from the shrimpers then chunk with it. If the tuna are there they will hit those baits willingly.

We usually get a mixed bag when doing this. If you hit it right and the fish are there it is fast an furious when we start the drift.
Blackfin with a few, very few Yellowfin possible. The negative is sharks sometimes makes it hard to get the fish to the boat.

If they aren't there we find fish. Usually bottom fish which is reliable.

15 spots secured as of today.

5 remaining spots have guys looking to clear schedule by next Monday & charter would be full if they do grab them. Just a heads up on possibility that charter might fill by early next week.
