I am planning a trip to Lake Calcasieu in La. I am wanting to do a combo trout/ redfish trip. I would enjoy the novelty of catching some bass while fishing.. I am considering Spicer marina, Hackberry rod and gun and guides that they may have.. I am open to suggestions. I love cajun food and the Louisiana people. So Bed and breakfast would be fine.. any suggestions ?? I was planning this summer but could what till fall. Heck, I like to duck hunt as well..

HBR&G is going to feed you some decent food. Not much in the way of food in Hackberry. Spicers is a good Marina to go out of. Their hotel rooms are nice and the ram and dock is right there. Usually they have live shrimp for bait. Nothing to eat there beyond a few snack in their small store. Good people at both places. We usually stay at Spicers or VRBO a house. If you have a few people going the house is the way to go.
Go in late October. Less pressure. Shrimp are leaving the marsh. Fishing the birds picking shrimp is fun. If there is a seagull hovering a foot over the water there is a fish under the gull Cooler days. Can be enjoyable not being as hot. Fishing can be real good. Usually a guide will fish you until about 2pm.
HBR&G guides are pretty solid. There are enough of them that they network to stay on the fish.they also do cast and blast. They are a little more expensive but it’s a nice place to go out of. Plenty of guides that will take you out of Spicers. Just meet you at the dock there.
You can go to either Sulphur or Lake Charles to eat dinner. Some decent Cajun food there. It’s less than 30 minutes. Casinos too for entertainment if you are into that.
Good limits. 15 trout per person per day. 5 Red fish per person per day. You should be able to take a nice bunch home to have a fish fry or throw on the grill.
