Hi there, For a guy like me, that has been a solid spinning combo fisher, looking to get into baitcasters at 48, any tips on best baitcaster for a baitcast beginner? Thanks, Happy angling!

I was in a similar situation a few years ago.
I’d recommend something simple, like a Lews Speed Spool LFS and a medium heavy rod.
Buy some copolymer line and fish it for a few months.
The big decision is right or left hand retrieve? I’m right handed and chose to use left hand retrieve. It was a much easier transition.

Sweet thanks. I'm left handed, but I use right handed equipment. Just what's comfortable for me. My fly rod is the same way.
Appreciate it man. Any tips for switching to a baitcaster? Like for birdsnests etc?

When you cast, don’t hold the reel straight up. Hold your hand about like you are throwing a football, and on the release the crank handle should be straight up.

Buy cheap copoly line like pline CX or yozuri hybrid. Watch YouTube videos on how to set up the reel.
Work with swimbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, etc.
Accept the fact you’ll have a major birds nest and destroy the whole spool.
I didn’t have many when I started, but they were crazy.
I switched to flouro and I get them more often but they are easier to fix.
