Because I live 15 minutes from both of these lakes and usually just fish them.

Went to Cooper last Sunday around 9AM and found a small school on one of the main lake humps. After catching several, I tied a jig above my slab and caught 2 at a time on 3 consecutive cast. Then I retied and they moved off, even though I was spot locked and I only picked up a couple more. The wind died and it got really hot. Since I was not keeping any fish, I decided to call it a day around 2:30.

cml and I met and went fishing on Cooper last Saturday from daylight to about 1:30PM. We caught about 15 on main lake humps, but they were scattered. About 20 years ago, I found a hump that payed off like a slot machine every time we fished it.We caught thousands of fish on this one hump during a 5 month span, when it started cooling off in September they left the hump and I have never caught another fish on that hump. We checked that hump, still nothing. Then about 11:00AM Chris spotted fish on top water about 200 yards away. For the next 2+ hours we caught fish, mostly on rattle traps before they finally stopped hitting top water. We were getting hungry, so we called it a day. It was great to meet you, Chris. We need to go again soon.
Chris had to work Sunday, so I hit that spot at daylight Sunday, but didn't find any fish and no top water action. I caught 26 on mid lake humps, then found another smaller group on top water and picked up about a dozen more. All fish were released both days.
My son and one of his friends are going fishing in the morning at daylight, most likely to Lake Fork for white bass and crappie. I took off work on Monday July 3rd, so I have 5 days available to go fishing, as long as I can handle the heat.
