Me and a buddy went out Saturday afternoon to try and catch a few. Didn't have much luck, we caught 5 dink channel kitties. I only caught one of those, LOL. Using freshly caught cut shad, DK's, and Sure Shot. All of the 5 came off the stinkbait, both flavors. We also threw some lil george's with no lcuk. We were down stream a bit, too many people fishing by the rocks. It appears they opened the gates a lil more, higher water than Monday when I was out there. Anybody esle having any luck out there?

We caught a ton of drum out there on Friday afternoon, but not much more than that. We fished for a couple of hours until all the inconsiderate riff raff started showing up. There's nothing better than trying to throw 25 different lines into a 15x15 square. We actually had the spot right on those steps in that corner where the water comes out, and I couldn't tell you how many people would just shoulder right up next to you as if you were holding that spot for them. I also got tired of people throwing drum against the rocks leaving them to die and stink the place up for everyone else. If you don't want to keep your dam fish, just throw them back, not only is pretty sorry, it's illegal. For all the good fishing that flood gates can provide, they sure are a magnet for low-lifes(No offense Chiz, I'm sure you aren't one of them). If I go back, it'll be during the week, and I may try at the edge of the rocks, or I'll walk on down the first little "cove" about 1/4 mile downstream. I've caught some really nice catfish there drifting shrimp on a bobber.

I totally agree with you. We were downstream a good ways of all the "riff raff" if you will. It was quite down there until 3 jet skis coming haulin arse right by us, all the way to the discharge. I guess they come from Lewisville??? They waved when they went by, yeah, we sure didn't wave back, ran across all four of our lines, thier waves splashed all our stuff on the bank.
I tried fishing by the rocks earlier in the week and noticed all the rudeness going on for sure. But it's public and I guess people can fish wherever they want. That's not very polite by any means, but I guess that is what we got to deal with. Anyway, maybe I'll see ya out there one day. I'm the one with the Bee Readys sticking in the bank or out of the rocks. LOL

Are all those folks paying to fish, or are they just going in hoping they don't get caught?

Maybe a call to the GW a time or two is in order to thin those folks out.

JDavis, what were you catching the drum on? The 1 to 5 pounders are a little coarse, but make pretty good eating.

We started cathing them on shrimp under a bobber, and then I started catching almost every cast on a black/chart roadrunner.

Where does all the riff raff come from ? I often wonder......I usually fish Isle dubois State Park at night and always end up leaving early because of the rude Asians.......Not trying to be predudice by any means.but thats the nationality of the rude people there EVERY single time I go....and I have been going there for almost 4 years now.........they think they own the joint

I think the problem is that you and I see fishing as a relaxing enjoyable thing to, with the bonus of catching something to eat. Those people are trying round up as many fish as they can to eat and aren't there for any recreation. It could also just be that they are rude azz SOBs who think they own the world.

There are plenty of those people from every ethnicity ou there.

No u can stay all nite if u want..............Just get there before 10pm or the gates will be closed...But you can still get out..They started closing the gates at 10 pm to get in which is good because the riff raff was getting in after 10 and not paying..and the riff rafdf take over their limits and little fish for their Super Buffetts if you know what I mean...But as of this writing all the state parks at Ray Bob are still closed due to high water

Thanks for the info, but isn't it a swinging gate that blocks the whole road? If so, how do you get out? I guess I never gave it much attention to see what kind of gate it was. Thanks.

The Gate going out in a automatic gate with either a eye or ground scensor so when u pull up to the outgoing gate it automatically opens.........But you need a key code to get in after Hours
