With it being summer and crazy hot, I see many tournaments advising anglers with their normal fish care instructions but I rarely see anyone mention pure oxygen.

Curious how many guys actually use it? I've been using it for probably 5 years anytime water temps hit 70 and above. For years we kept fish "alive" with ice, catch and release, etc. What I like about oxygen is not having to run any pumps other than new water in the morning and maybe midday if water isn't clean. Fish come out perfect for weigh in. I feel a lot of fish that get weighed in alive, end up post tournament mortality due to lack of proper oxygen content throughout the day.

Where do you get the pure oxygen from? Welding supply?

I've never messed with it. I don't really fish any tournaments when it gets that hot. I do know some folks who have used it. I know it can be dangerous, but they haven't had any issues.

It’s true. They work. No need for oxygen. But I get it, so many pro fanboys on here that want to play pretend pro & copy the pros.. it’s cute.

Test by Texas P&W show that the "oxygenators" do nothing for the fish. Using recirculate and aerate features a much better. The BEST thing you can do is to Vent your lids. Generally, it is build up of gasses in the live well, like ammonia that lead to fish deaths. Just keep your water aerated and vent the wells. Add Ice if it is really hot. Nothing else is needed despite the advertisements from folks getting paid good money to swear how good their products are. In the last 10 years, I have never lost a fish in a well doing the above.

If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

I have it set-up and use when needed like you stated and I use the V2-T vents as well and could care less about the argument there... Don't believe in it, don't use them... simple as that.

I have also added a Frabill Aqua-Life Dual Aerator pump and hooked it up to an accessory switch. I turn this on most of the time along with recirc.

Anything that helps.

Any outside air venturi system vents the livewell, just slower than the added vents. Many venturi systems use livewell air so you can improve it just by installing a tube to draw air from the outside or replace the nozzle with one that does. The movement for better livewell survival is to allowing a smaller air pocket or removing it. That way the fish don't move as much when the boat is in rough water.

Also I believe he is talking about a pure air oxygen tank system. They do work.
Mine was used a few times but I quit tournament fishing and don't use it anymore. I should probably sell it.

If you want to learn to keep bass alive go talk to a striper guide and listen to what he does to keep shad alive and take notes.

Very solid advice right here

Thank you Frank! I have them and when I get to weigh-in my fish are still putting up a fight. I don't have to babysit them and its the best $40 I ever spent.

My current rig has V2 vents, my previous rig didn't. Never had a problem loosing fish in either but something I do is keep the fill pump on on a timer and never use recirculate. Fresh water is the key.

Not to knock the v2 vent product line off, but I save money wherever possible and was able to find a generic hard plastic vent on Amazon. 6 pack I believe for like $10. Does the exact same thing if you ask me.

I had it set up on my previous boat and it worked very well. There was an article or study somewhere that explained exactly what to use and where to get the parts like the regulator and stone.
